OLQA Parish Plan
Our Mission Statement
We, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, are a community of faith. We strive to worship the Lord more fully through the sacraments, recognize God more clearly in all people and serve Him more generously in the world, so that under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we may proclaim in word and deed the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our Parish Goals for 2008
Goal #1: To establish a permanent Evangelization effort and a team to support it.
Objectives:
- Expand and complete the formation of a committee to support and coordinate evangelization efforts and develop a job description for a parish Director of Evangelization; this committee should include the Parish Director of Adult Faith Formation.
- Formulate an outreach plan to evangelize inactive Catholics and individuals outside the church.
- Include a monthly petition in the Sunday general intercessions for ongoing conversion and the return of inactive Catholics.
Goal #2: To develop among our parishioners and incorporate into our ministries an understanding and endorsement of the concept of “Stewardship – the Heart of Discipleship, Learning, Loving and Living Your Faith.”
Objectives:
- Support the Stewardship Committee in creating a welcoming and informational kiosk in the gathering area as a tool in the dissemination of information regarding parish events and ministries.
- Continue to develop an outreach on-call data base, which lists parishioners for specific areas of need.
Goal #3: To Provide increased opportunities for parishioners to learn, understand and deepen their Catholic faith through retreats, classes, seminars and small faith sharing experiences and to become more closely connected with the parish..
Objectives:
- Offer marriage enhancement classes annually.
- Present classes on the Sacrifice of the Mass.
- Expand the offering of parenting and family support classes, utilizing diocesan and other resources.
- Re-establish the Men’s Breakfast series.
- Establish a Small Faith Sharing Group ministry to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of our Catholic faith and each other.
- Establish daytime faith formation and social programs for seniors in the parish.
Goal #4: To consider the creation of additional advisory boards or committees in support of parish staff, ministries and activities to foster among parishioners a stronger understanding that “we are one in the Body of Christ”..
Objectives:
- Form a communications committee, which, among other things, will coordinate the calendar of parish-wide activities and foster communication among the ministries.
- Establish a Youth Advisory Committee.
- Coordinate communication between the parish, school and SRE bulletins to reflect all the activities and opportunities.
Goal #5: To build support for the Cornerstone Campaign.
Objectives:
- Encourage parishioner participation in Cornerstone Campaign celebrations and events.
- Encourage new parishioners and new school families to participate in Cornerstone Campaign celebrations and events.
- Encourage 100% parishioner participation in the Cornerstone Campaign.
- Provide advice to the pastor throughout the construction project.
Goal #6: To establish a program of ecumenical outreach throughout our community.
Objective:
- Sponsor an ecumenical liturgical service.
Goal #7: To provide increased opportunities for parishioners to participate in outreach service projects.
- Coordinate regular service projects with the combined efforts of the parish, school and SRE families.
- Schedule a parish work day quarterly at local charities.
- Schedule a mission trip for youth and families.
